Is there a rod through the tilt cylinder eye? Pull the rod and lift the motor higher. Might be item #23.

Serial# will tell you the year of the motor
There's another screw/bolt on the other side to be removed prior to lifting

will check for second screw but i think it’s missing.

interference is from motor mount transom bracket. not motor itself. i have it 90 degrees

Hi. Loosen the pressure release vent screw so you can manually lift and lower the engine by hand. As you move the engine the whole assembly moves towards and away and swivels. Probably much easier to take the whole thing off. Pump and all. Knock the rod out one end and remove, but it defo moves to only just allow access to the bolts if patience is on your side.

yup. loosened screw. lifted lower unit of engine to horizontal and locked with the flipper knob
so
the suggestion is to then remove pin 23?

If you remove pin 23 you can almost flip the motor to vertical.

Found a youtube link.

https://youtu.be/CZweAjQnSjo

Appears to show once pin23 comes out the trim motor will tilt downward with the large piston

I was unable to visualize that before now

I will have a go at trying to remove pin 23 and its set screw after Easter

First forget all the suggestions made..2nd the Utube video is for a singe ram unit. All you have to do is loosen right side clamp bracket. Just remove nut on right side steering tube, remove bottom anode and 3 side mount bolts, slide to the right and flip out of way. Real easy if hanging from tractor. Now the bad part...that unit is NLA and the I highly suggest that you not use the motor adapter kits as they all leak. Replace it as a motor/pump assy. Here is link …

Thanks Fastbullet. Storms tomorrow in upstate new york. Soon as I can get the tractor loader out and helper to unbolt lift the engine up from the outdoor stand i will give it a go

If it’s electrical issue i will attempt to repair.

if i can’t i will go the full replacement option

So just to clarify. if i hoist the motor off the boat with a lift ring. does the starboard bracket still need to come loose? or can i just then get the motor out the backside/boat side?

i was thinking set the motor vertical. attach the hoist. lift to remove weight. remove all transom bolts. lift motor two feet up in the air. see if i can get trim motor off.

if not then remove starboard 3 bolts and bracket

my tilt tube needs driven port an inch so hopefully i can drive it while motor is hanging

Well the answer is yes. must loosen and slide starboard transom bracket in all cases

Hoisted mine with tractor

Tried to cleanup armature and brushes. No love. Flats worm on armature. Won’t respond to 12v

6 days for new pump to arrive

anything else to check while apart? fluid level?
