With a 225 OMC stern drive. I want to install a four stroke kicker bracket and mount a four stroke Yamaha 9.9 kicker. Just got this boat and not to familiar with OMC and installing my fishfinder today I drilled a hole on the top of the transom for cables and was surprised the transom was maybe 1/2” thick fiberglass only. No wood.
( which is great if I ever go outboard easy transom work) but for now how can I hang a bracket and kicker on that. Must need to be beefed up.? Anyone dealt with this before?

A stringer drive does drive from the stringers vs the transom.

You may have to reinforce the transom.

Take a look at the thickness of the transom where the drive unit is sealed with the boot. It is probably 2” at that point.
