Hey all, I recently acquired a 1974 sears 3.5 hp outboard. Model number: 217-5856-1. The powerplant number is T-642-18. So to start I have tested the coil, primary and secondary windings are good. I have tested the condenser, it should be good (put a charge(?) on it with ohms, then checked with dc volts and watched it drop). Then checking the points for any corrosion etc.. and all is good, gapped them at TDC and when the little marker piece attached to the crank is touching the plastic piece that moves the point (tried various other positions all in that area). Magnets in the flywheel are good. Attached is a picture of the crank (points were removed at time of picture) to see if any of you know where it should be making contact when setting the gap. Plug should not be of concern,I tried one from my ice auger, and tried testing with a screw driver. If there is anything else needed let me know, thanks!

Just to update the thread, I ended up getting spark. I turned the crank/sleeve where it says top just a bit passed where things should line up and it produced the spark. Cleaned out the carb and gas tank, and the engine runs flawlessly. Thanks to @brim_buster for some good help as well!
