0d254619. Trigger wires have been cut and joined, the yellow identification sleeve is missing, its backfiring when trying to start. The black sleeve is on outer switchbox. Is there a way to identify or just swap them on switchbox and see what happens.

I can't speak about that model's wire identification. I can say you can however identify TDC for each cylinder for spark using #1 cylinder and make paint pen marks for each cylinder's TDC spot with a number based on firing order in the opposite direction of flywheel turning.

Nothing more than putting 6 evenly spaced numbered paint marks on flywheel starting at TDC.

Leave the spark plugs in and ground plug wires, use spark gap tester for cylinder being checked for spark timing.

Use spark gap tester with closed gap on the cylinder spark plug being tested, put timing gun sensor on the cylinder spark plug wire to be checked and put a timing gun on timing pointer.

You will see if it is wrong very quickly because timing light will flash on the flywheel very far from paint mark of the correct cylinder number if you marked the flywheel correctly.
