How do I do that? I was looking at putting a chainsaw valve on and bypassing the stock one but there are none available where I live. Were taking a trip to the "big city" today and I found something at Lowes that might work. Maybe put one of these on with an inline filter?
That sounds like a good plan…just keep it real simple for future trouble- shooting and cleaning…
Replaced the valve and added a filter and it started right up. The old valve must have been dirty or something. It's a loud motor though. Any way to muffle it at all? Too bad the idle speed isnt slower but I can work with it. I'm just worried my canoe is gonna take off on me right away when I start it.
I appreciate the help. Without it I might not have got this motor running. One other question. It it possible to relocate the kill button to a more easily accessible spot such as close to the throttle lever? Here is a couple pictures of the monstrosity of a boat that motor is going on. About to take it out on the lake for a test run.
I turned the screw out to the point that it was about to come out and it didn't seem to slow down much if at all.

Just noticed the throttle lever was stuck and not going all the way down to idle. I fixed it and am adjusting the idle screw and the engine cuts out before the prop stops rotating. Should I turn the screw to the position right before the engine cuts out?
Took it on the lake again today. Ran better than yesterday but died a few times on me and was difficult to restart. Out of the water it starts everytime now and runs until I shut it off. So it seems that it is having issues under load.
Is it possible water is somehow getting in the carburetor? If you look at a picture of my intake and the one on the exploded view of the engine the one on the exploded view has an elbow coming off the end where mine does not. Could that be causing the issue and if so can you think of a way to cobble together some sort of elbow for it? Perhaps a piece of hose bent at an L shape clamped onto it?
Here is what I rigged up. The engine actually seems like it runs smoother with that on. About to head out to the lake and test it out.
