    Evinrude 9.9 Tiller Adjustment

Well that stinks. Seems like it would be easy enough to do. I just don't want to waste my time trying if it's not possible. I don't think the gears can be off, because it looks like they can only go on one way. Seems like if I goofed, the only thing that could have happened is the rectangular...

    Evinrude 9.9 Tiller Adjustment

So got me a '75 9.9 that I pulled the powerhead off of to repair the upper thrust plate. Not sure if it was something I did, or maybe I just didn't notice, but the arrow on the handle doesn't line up with the words like it should when you rotate the throttle. Is there a way to adjust this or am...

    Batman! Dadadadadadadada!

Thanks for posting that. It was an interesting read. I learned a little bit too. It's a bit of a balancing act to get a boat to perform properly. Now I kind of want to build me a bat boat!

    Batman! Dadadadadadadada!

My family had a Plymouth like that when I was a little boy. With a push button transmission, it was a really neat car. Also for a short while I owned a red 1960 Impala convertible which had fins, but they were of the horizontal variety. I agree many of these finned products were things of...

    Batman! Dadadadadadadada!

Just stumbled across this picture. What kind of boat is this? Totally custom, or just customized? Anybody know?

    Slip Bobbers

I've only recently heard of Temu. Sounds like it can take awhile to get your stuff though. So when the fish are biting it may make a good bit of sense to use what you can get locally. Thanks for the tip though. Hoping to do more fishing this year. Last year was pretty much a bust for me for a...

Water keeps filling boat cover, please help!

I went over the windshield too, but I can tell from these pics that I don't have enough supports for the lower angle. Thinking a center support a foot or so taller than the windshield might work well. Either that or going to have to do something like Lou C did.

Water keeps filling boat cover, please help!

I feel your pain. Going through the same thing with mine. Tried 3 different support strategies and thought had it figured out. All was well until the snow hit. Now I'm brooming it off 3x a week. Think I'll try a center pole support like dingbat suggested. Just waiting for a warm day, but looks...

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

Thanks a bunch for the positive feedback. I was thinking it was a great vehicle, but thought I must be missing something. Seeing very few rusty ones and most of the time the interiors still look nice. Many @ 200k and still out there alive and kicking! I'm even seeing some with 300k.

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

Guess my original findings were correct. You guys are right about the lower number it seems. Thanks for pointing that out, but no worries, my heaviest boat weighs 800 lbs, so..... As for no way in hell, I live a 1/2 mile from the ramp and the furthest I can ever see towing would be 50 miles to...

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

Appreciate everyone's input. Seems I may have been wrong about the towing capacity though. Have read several places that it's actually 6200 lbs. Wow, that's a lot of boat, right?

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

Mainly just be pulling smaller boats. I have a 14' Mirro and a 15' Crestliner currently. Neither is very heavy. I know about the leaking trans line issue, which can be a bit pricey. I've also been told to examine the transfer case thoroughly for cracks. Funny thing about the rust though. You...

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

Thanks for the insight Matt. Anything else to watch for? Transmission maybe? Those SSs are mighty cool, but talk about roached out. Not only do they seem beat to hell, people are wanting like 10k for them! If found a decent one for cheap though don't think could pass it up. Don't these have...

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

Always liked the looks of the 02-08 Chevy Trailblazer. Anybody have one? Are they reliable?

    Prop Damage

I'll admit don't know much about props. Except I seldom see one much better than this. Maybe it's just our lake, but seems no prop stays looking new for long. I almost want to say this prop looks new, except for that one scuff. Attaching some better pictures. Is the verdict still it has to go...

    Prop Damage

I've got a full set of body working hammers and dollies, nothing fancy. Also have an anvil and a torch. Looks easy enough to hammer the bend out as long as it doesn't crack on me. Don't plan on replacing any metal although aren't there brazing rods that stick to aluminum? Not looking to get...

    Prop Damage

Interesting. I didn't think it was a big deal, but now I know better. Maybe the pics don't do it justice. It is really just a scuff, no metal missing really. Has a little bit of a bend now that doesn't belong. Most used motors I see look a lot worse. I'm pretty good at metal working and have the...

    Prop Damage

Prop on my new boat has a pretty good scuff and slight bend in it. Should I be concerned? Can I fix it myself? Sorry about the lousy pictures. For some reason they didn't come out very good.

    Merc 75 4 cylinders, 2 carbs

Got my manual yesterday! Sure took the scenic route getting here. Unlike the other one which looked like it may have already made a trip to the outhouse, this one is pretty much pristine! I'd sure like to have my boat worked on at a marina which kept their books so nice. Now I realize why it's...
