    Re- torque head bolts?

I'm not a very experienced mechanic, but I'd guess that your gasket was still compressing.

    Re- torque head bolts?

Yeah, re-torquing the head bolts as routine maintenance is certainly open to debate. I've been chatting with some very experienced Chrysler guys that are getting a good laugh out of this advice.

    Re- torque head bolts?

I was recently advised to re torque the head bolts on my 77 135 hp Chrysler outboard twice a year. My concern is whether they are torque to yield bolts or normal bolts? I'll probably leave well enough alone, but still curious if this is standard preventive maintenance on these motors.

    Fuel pump doesn't pump

Thanks for explaining, always eager to learn more about how these motors work.

    Fuel pump doesn't pump

Is this akin to blowing thru a straw vs sucking? Exhaust sucking pressure, Intake blowing? Yeah not too sure myself on all that, but thanks for your comment anyway. The fuel pumps are on the intake side. I'm guessing that intake is blowing or pulsing and exhaust is vacuum or sucking? Love...

    Fuel pump doesn't pump

Thank Jerry, yeah sad thing I have two other motors right next to this one all set up, DOH! No biggie, live and learn. Probably won't make that mistake again. Happy to year!

    Fuel pump doesn't pump

Okay problem solved, and yes I'm an idiot! Just realized I had the inlet hose going to the outlet, lol. That's what I get for getting in a hurry...

    Fuel pump doesn't pump

I've been on a roll getting motors to run, but ran into another puzzler on a Force 125. I can't get fuel to pump past the fuel pump. The bulb is tight and squirts out the inlet hose to the pump, but once fastened to the pump, I get nothing. I loosened the other ends thinking maybe an air lock...

    Left the ignition switch on...

Thanks Nordin, that's reassuring. Been kicking myself because I just fixed a no spark issue on that motor. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

    Anybody recognize this fellow?

I've often thought Franks postings would make a great book, like Lee Roy's Ramblings for OMC's

    Anybody recognize this fellow?

I've read so many posts by Frank that I feel like I know him! I just love that 140 Chrysler too. I wonder if he posted pics of the motor without the cowl

    Left the ignition switch on...

Yeah still have big fat blue spark on all 4 plugs. But I wonder if it causes residual damage to coil or CD box?

    Left the ignition switch on...

No hour meter. Just hoping I didn't damage the coil or CD box. I think I'll at least check spark.

    Left the ignition switch on...

Will leaving the key switch on damage anything in the ignition system? This is on a 115 Chrysler with an electronic eye, not points. Only left on for an hour, coil wasn't warm. Thanks in advance!

How to wire a kill switch on a '77 Chrysler 135hp?

Perfect, thanks for confirming. I'm not too good with electrical, but learning a lot lately.

How to wire a kill switch on a '77 Chrysler 135hp?

I think I misunderstood you here. And not knowing what you meant by "in series". To clarify, as I now understand it. Hook one wire from the lanyard to where the blue wire was on the key switch. Hook the blue wire to the other wire on the lanyard. Is this correct?

How to wire a kill switch on a '77 Chrysler 135hp?

Thanks Brodmann, it took me a while to understand this, I don't why. But a friend just clarified it for me and now I get it! Thanks!

    Spark plug wires

I thought I'd follow up on this after getting the wires installed. Turns out the 8mm were just a bit too tight to get into the cap, so I drilled them out to a firm fit. I let the rubber piece stretch around the wires for a good tight fit. It all went together pretty well. I ended up using Taylor...

Rough operation of timing advance rod or is this normal?

I went ahead and dotted two spots with silicon to hold the wires, stuck a spark plug in there to wedge them up and it seems to be holding them nicely. Just a little extra assurance, since they're essentially just levitating there with no real support.
