    Seastar rotary NFB helm

New Seastar rotary helm and wheel. Is the gap between the bezel and wheel normal, or should they butt up together. Nut is snug tight and there is no play in the wheel.

    Bunk bracket suggestions

I'm considering converting my rollers over to bunks. I have a low slung drop axle trailer w/ only 6" of ground clearance. Is there a bunk bracket available that can be mounted on the cross member that will not protrude below the cross member and catch/snag/drag as the lowest point of the...

Mercury Key Switch - Panel Mount

Wasn't sure if this should go in the Electrical section, or Mercury section, so figured I'd link it here as well: https://forums.iboats.com/threads/mercury-key-switch-panel-mount.756624/ Thanks!

Mercury Key Switch - Panel Mount

I understand most key switches utilize a 3/4" or 7/8" cutout. I am mounting a key switch to a center console and utilizing the the panel mount cover/switch mounting plate. Does this require a 2-1/16" cutout? I can't see any other way to do it.

    Low compression #5, 115hp inline 6

1982 115hp Mercury inline 6, serial number identifies this motor as prop rated. This motor was picked up as a “parts motor” as it was not running after a rebuild. Apparently had a piston issue, cylinder was honed, piston replaced, and the original owner could never get it to start again. Has...

1982 115hp Crank or Prop rated

Picked up a pair of 115hp, one a 1982 and the other a 1984, although the '82 has the '84-85 decals for some reason. My research has suggested that the '82's after serial 5829464 are actually prop rated, leveraging the 140hp block. This '82 is serial# 6007313. It still uses the older trim...

    Black Nautolex

Anyone have any direct experience with black Nautolex vinyl flooring and how hot it gets in the sun? I've used the storm grey color on two of my other rebuilds, but considering the black color on my current rebuild on the gunnels and/or deck. I'm sure it'll get warm, but with the texture and...

    Mercury 2+2 introduced?

In the market for a HP upgrade from my 1982 70hp Mercury. 705lb hull is rated to 115hp. What is the late 80's/early 90's preferred 90-115hp option. I hear mixed reviews on the 2+2 models and would prefer to stay away from them. Have also heard about a 3cyl 90hp, but not sure what model years...

    1984 Mercury Trim Question

Picked up a new project with a 1984 70hp Mercury hanging off the back with trim and an external (in the boat) pump. A bit different than the integrated trim I had on my 1987 Classic Fifty and 1987 35hp. What is the consensus on these trim units? Worth holding onto, or am I better off looking...

    New Journey

Was going to wait until I actually had this one in hand, but I figured the journey is a big part of what we look forward to sharing here. Made an agreement with my wife that if I sold the 16SS after having taken up space in our garage and two different homes for a number of years, I could find...

    Heat Shrink Tubing Sizes

Anyone have a good reference for heat shrink tubing sizes for wrapping multiple 16ga AWG wires together? I'm looking to extend a wiring harness and would rather not have three separate wires zip tied together along the length of the run. I'll be using the appropriate terminal connectors, just...

    1987 Classic Fifty, no spark

Greetings all, Looking for some guidance in troubleshooting a 1987 Classic Fifty, 45hp with no spark to any cylinder. I have a spare switchbox, stator, and trigger on hand, but would like to rule out any concerns with the cable/controls/kill switch before swapping things out. I was advised to...

    Classic Fifty controls

I’m having a heck of a time with the shift and throttle control installation for my ‘87 Classic Fifty. Lost the NLA 10-38069 spring actuator screw for the shift cable retainer somewhere down the cowling. Anything to be worried about there, or is it all pretty much sealed down below? Also...

    Correct parts for Classic Fifty

I have an 1987 Classic Fifty (45hp), serial B216418. It's been sitting for awhile and I need to do the impeller, carbs, and fuel pump. From what I can tell, the correct kit #'s I need to order are as follows: Impeller kit - 18-3207 Carb kit(2) - 1395-9650 or 18-7226 Fuel pump kit - 18-7817...

Starting a new thread for the rebuild of the inherited 1978 16SS I picked up from crkranz a while back. 87 Mercury Fuel Connector

I'm attempting to identify the appropriate fuel connector for a 1987 Mercury outboard. I have a 35hp and a Classic Fifty that I have included pictures of, both appear to be the same which one would expect for the same model year.

Anyone ever strip down a Mirrocraft?

There's a '78 16ft Mirrocraft Mister Musky hull and trailer available locally that would make for a nice package with my 35hp Mercury that was left homeless after I picked up the Classic 50. Looks like pretty similar construction as far as transom and floor replacement. Pretty consistent with...

Need some measurements on a 16SS

I'm about to order my Nautolex for the Nova and was hoping to fit the excess material for the top of the gunnels and bow cap on the 16SS, which unfortunately is in hibernation for the winter. Does anyone know: The width of the gunnel tops on a 16SS? The length of a 16SS bow cap piece? I'm...

    1957 Starcraft Jet?

Did they make one? Looking at one advertised as such in the morning. What would a fair price be on the boat only with clean and solid hull and pretty complete with all original equipment? No motor or trailer.
