The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I'm doing a small floor repair in a 14' runabout and was told to buy 5 gallons of resin since by the gallon it's more expensive.
I will have another boat to repair after this one but not until at least next spring. And hopefully just as small, even with the transom replacement.
If I have any...
I have a '78. And except for the rear of the floor and the transom, it's pretty solid. The The '78 Merc 1150 115hp looks OK, except it needs a new wiring harness as it's cracked and corroded. If it wasn't for the transom problem I'd be working on it to get it into the water instead of on my '64...
I've got a problem. Although my steering cables seem OK, my remote control cables are totally gone. My remote box seems to be rebuildable, but I can't seem to find replacement cables. Are there people who can do custom cables? Or, do I have to go with new equipment?
The cables are for a '61...
If you do go from 2 to 4stroke, is there a guide for figuring out hp difference?
My 115 hp 2stroke merc isn't going to be the same as a 115 4stroke is it?
are all lubes made alike? or should I stick to marine lubes? Mainly I'm wondering about 2stroke oil. is it different for weed whackers and boat motors? and is price a factor?
I've read that the can't outlaw 2strokes altogether but can restrict their usage.
Anyone know what a typical restriction might be? And where?
I have both a 45hp on a classic Glaspar and 115hp on a Baretta pleasure.
how much difference is there between '61 and '64 cables? does anyone repair them or is it cheaper to just buy a new remote control for my classic boat? The reason I'm asking is ,it seems that Iboats doesn't go back beyond '65.
My remote control seems in OK condition, though I need to replace...
How much time and effort should I put into a '61 merc 400E that isn't supposed to have many hours on it, but has been sitting for almost 40 years? Actually the Boat's a '64, so the motor was used when they got it, so I can't really say how many hours are on it. but there aren't any leaks, and...
after it sitting in my back yard for two years, I've decided to start repairs on my boat. when I acquired it, it had been sitting uncovered for over 30 years and closer to 40. the main problems are a cracked windshield and a rotted deck.
While looking at 1/4" plywood, I was wondering if there...
