    Don't trust the temp gauge. I had the similar problem with a VP motor. IR thermometer showed normal temps everywhere I checked. Changed out my temp sensor/sender, no change. Finally changed out the gauge and problem fixed. Reply Report •••

    Trouble replacing thermostat

    Dypcdiver is correct. I looked up your engine and couldn't find the "C" version, but that's typical when searching for VP parts. The models before and after C show thermostat 3853799, so I think it's correct and the o-ring is preventing its removal.

    What Yamalube Oil for 2005 F150TXRD

    Yamaha manual for my motor states 10w30. Distributor says 10w30 for "northerners" and 20w40 for "southerners," per Yamaha's recommendation. Short of trying to call Yamaha direct, has anyone heard of this supposed change by Yamaha?

    My motor with 300 hours makes what I would call a momentary growling sound when lowered to the almost vertical position. I don't see or feel any corrosion or problems on the operating shafts and there's no hesitation. The fluid is full and clean. What could this be?
