    1984 starcraft islander

For a transom? I've seen it done by others, but considering the number of years the factory unsealed wood lasted, a properly sealed wood replacement will likely outlive the useable life of the boat at a much more attractive price point.

For peace of mind, I'd source my own wood for the transom replacement unless you could confidently identify it as good marine ply. The last thing you want is a piece of treated ply inside your aluminum boat, especially in areas like your transom.

Needs help with template for rotten transom

Doesn't look like a BIA bolt pattern to me:) I think he's asking for a template for the actual transom itself, not the bolt pattern for the outboard mounting.

Needs help with template for rotten transom

With the old transom out, you should be able to use a large piece of cardboard or some 1/4" ply to mock up a template. Lay it up against the outside of the transom and line it up with the rivets for the transom pocket. Trace out the side angles of the hull and take a little off to accommodate...

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

What are you covering the deck with? I had the bumps as well, but laid the Nautolex down right over it. Might want to just test an area with whatever deck covering you plan to use and see if its even noticeable under foot.

    New Journey

Not much fun watching spar dry and running electrical, but getting things checked off... coat, dry, flip, repeat...I guess the 4hr dry times are better than the 24hr.

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

Makes me kind of wish I would have held onto the Mercury 70 that came with my MR180. Sold it right off the bat as I wanted something with the BIA bolt pattern and internal trim, but still would have been fun to tinker with. Completely understand the life delays. I use to get stressed when I...

    New Journey

Update time: Was trucking along and then lost a little steam after the weather turned again. Got a few deliveries in, with another one arriving tomorrow containing the remaining terminal blocks and bus bars I need for the wiring. I know you all like pictures, and nothing too exciting to share...

    1982 starcraft v220 mariner v5 potential rebuild

Might be a 1983 as well. I couldn't find a 220V in the '82 catalog, but they had one in the '83: https://starcraftmarine.com/sites/default/files/catalogs/StarCraftAluminumRunabouts1983_web.pdf

    1982 starcraft v220 mariner v5 potential rebuild

She's a big girl! I'm envious! Galvanized dual axle trailer too! My assumption is after removing the deck you will find yourself with some saturated spray in foam. I'd yank it all out, give it a good cleaning, and assess all the rivets. You may find corrosion/pitting inside the hull where the...

    Largest outboard starcraft

https://starcraftmarine.com/resources/legacy-catalogs select the year, hit apply, click on the catalog. Outboard and I/O available in many of the 22' models in the mid to late 70's. Didn't dig too much deeper, but yes, SS, Holiday, Islander, Chieftain, Mariner...quite a few options in an...

    Largest outboard starcraft

Forgot about the Holiday as well, they had a 22' outboard model availbale. I know they made a 22' SS V5 outboard, but not 100% sure there was a non-V5 outboard available in the 22'. I know the Chieftain could be had in a 22' outboard, and only the later model Islander (late 80's on)with the...

    Largest outboard starcraft

Several options really. They mad the Mariner(MR models) in 18', 21', and 22'. The Supersport(SS) in 18' and 22', Islander and Chieftain in a few different flavors from 18'-26'. Most models had the outboard option, with the exception of the earlier Islanders which I believe were all I/O, although...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

For cheap insurance, you could just cut a couple of 2x6, 4x4, or whatever your flavor is to use as vertical braces on either side of the motor while hoisting. Just wedge them into place during the lift and remove when completed. Should at least give you an idea of whether you need to add...
