    Yup, that’s called the “Station Wagon Effect”. Some of the manufacturers tried to minimize the problem by going to side exhausts.

    Well without mat, the resin can chip very easy. The mat gives it strength.

    Regarding question #1- when you do the barrier coat, make SURE you are able to do each re-coat within the specified timeframe.
