    Part 35 sometimes gets stuck inside the carb and could be damaged.     1972 evinrude 25hp sparkplugs

    J6C run better on these than j4c. Stick with Champions and make sure they are gapped to spec. I have a 70,71,72 25hp Johnson and all run J6C. Also clean points every few months if it starts running like crap. Plugs are cheap, if they get fouled, replace.

    Did you do the carb link and sync? Do you have the idle adjustment screw set accordingly? When you said it dies when throttle down, I’m assuming it’s only running at high revs? Checked spark? Running on both cylinders? Low speed jet set to 1 1/2 turns at first then start adjusting once...

    Make sure the kill switch wires are not grounded or touching anything. I found a kill switch for cheap on eBay. Get a spark tester to check spark, one that you can adjust the gap. Lots of info online about these motors . I also have a 71 25hp Johnson. Loved it so much I picked up a 70 and 72...
