Eska 15hp (Gamefisher) doesn't want to lift fuel from the tank

You're right. It wasn't pumping at all though and I did figure that out. The parts diagram for the carb is a copy of a copy of a copy.. etc, and I put the gasket on top of the check flappers instead of below it. Now it does lift a reasonable amount. What I mean is I can use it on the small boat...

Eska 15hp (Gamefisher) doesn't want to lift fuel from the tank

If I have the tank this high, it won't pump fuel. If I put it above the engine like gravity feed, it's fine. Obviously the fuel pump. Fuel pump is a weak little thing on the side of the carb but all components are new.

Eska 15hp (Gamefisher) doesn't want to lift fuel from the tank

I have this little 15hp Sears Gamefisher 2-cyl watercooled outboard I've been going through trying to get right. I replaced the impeller, housing, sealed up the lower unit, rebuilt the carburetor, all new carb components, new pump element in the carb positioned correctly as per the repair...

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

Thanks, set it at 8 degrees. Took the boat out today and runs good. 52mph WOT @4600 RPM

Totally baffling !!! Impeller replaced !! And not pumping

It sounds like you might need to re-examine the way the gaskets and plate are sandwiched then. I've made the mistake of using one of the wrong gaskets before and that was the problem. Since you have the lower unit off, why not just take it apart, start over and re-install everything after...

Not allowed to make "for sale" posts anywhere on iboats forum, correct?

I have something I want to sell but we are not allowed to make for sale threads anywhere on here, correct? Asking so I don't violate any rules. If not, is there a another forum where for sale posts would be allowed? Trying to sell something OMC outboard related but it's very specific.

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

One more question since I know you'll have this memorized, on Thunderbolt IV ignition, setting base timing is just setting the timing at idle speed right? There's no wire to ground or anything to turn off advance curve, you just set it as it sits correct?

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

That's what I did. That has to be where the knocking noise is coming from still somehow. I'm going to run it some more and see if it quiets down.

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

Nothing has really gone smoothly on this. First the mud daubers in the fuel line. Then I start it and the guage reads 0 oil pressure. I know that's wrong because I primed it and tested the pressure switch. I pulled the oil pressure sender and found a piece of thread sealant blocked the hole...

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

WELL! I fault traced the fuel system. I got fuel in the separator, plenty of fuel going to the pump, crack the pressure line at the pump and it has pressure... but nothing at the carb. I've been an auto mechanic for 20 years and never seen anything like a plugged up metal fuel line after a...

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

I'll try pouring in some gas this afternoon once I replace the starter. I'm not inept, I built the engine in my garage, I am just a bit younger and didn't grow up with carburetors. I don't have the just pour an ounce of gas in the carb techniques because I didn't grow up with that. Still open to...

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

The engine runs on carb cleaner, did not try pouring gas in. The filter separator is probably empty. I was talking about adding the primer temporarily to fill the whole system with fuel up to the carb bowl. If its a restriction I can take it out after. If I pour gas in ill have to reinstall the...

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

I did NOT forget it! Made very sure to install but definitely appreciate the thought because if I did forget that would be a big problem

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

I have a little primer bulb like the kind you would use on a small outboard gas tank. Thinking maybe I could save myself some trouble by hooking it up before the mechanical fuel pump and just pumping it up until there's gas in the filter/separator and I can see the jets spraying in the carb. I...
