Hi I just bought this outboard today. The guy told me it's a 1983 90 hp.

The cowling just says - "Evinrude V4" on it.

I'm thinking it may not be a 90 hp but possibly a 100 hp. I tried researching it online but I cant seem to come up with it. Can you give me any info on this motor? Year, hp, specs ect

Model # E100WTLCRS

Serial # J0411597

Thanks so much!

E - Evinrude
100 - Horsepower
W - Work series (Commercial grade)
T - Power Trim
L - Long shaft, 20-inch transom height
CR - Year - 1984 (C=8, R = 4, from the word INTRODUCES)
S - A series letter, doesn't have any meaning that I'm aware of.

Thanx! Thats what I wanted! I couldn't find the exact model number on the sites I searched. I couldn't figure out what the 'W' stood for.

What exactly is commercial grade? How is that dif from the recreational series? Is it better?

Does anyone have a ball park idea on what this outboard should be worth? It was used in salt water but flushed after every use. I tested the compression on it and all cylinders ranged between 130# and 140#. Cosmetic-wise the motor looks great! The cowling looks new and the lower end paint is good. Also has a stainless prop in nearly new condition. There is a little rust on a couple exterior pieces (steering bracket, ect) but the inside looks great. I got it for $350. What should an outboard like that be worth?

The guy was willing to sell it for $350, and you were willing to pay $350 for it. It was worth $350. That's just the way it works. Supply and demand.

Yeah...thats how most anything is. My point was more...if I had bought the motor at market value say on Ebay or something - what would the price bracket be for that? Its not a big deal..was just curious if I got it for much less than its market value.
