Year 45Hp Mercury Engine?

Can anyone tell me what year this engine is?<br /><br />The serial number is: 1531493<br />I couldn't find a model number but there was a number on the engine block and it was: 27935<br /><br />The engine is a 2 stroke, 4 cyl with duel carbs and has an electric start.<br /><br />Thanks.

Sorry Rookie, I don't show that number anywhere.<br /><br />Does it have a colored band around the engine cover, and if so, what color is it?

Yes it does. It is black and silver striped.

I'm a bit of a newbie but I have a 45hp Merc, it is black with red/silver striping, it's labled "clasic Fifty" but it is a 45hp. The guys on the board tell me it is a 1988. The serial # doesn't look anything like that.
