I have two 225 4 strokes and wanted to know if someone could help me with the part number for the fuel filter that goes in the back of the engine? Thanks, John

Re: Yamaha 225 Four Strokes

hello
I have serviced many f225 and have never seen a fuel filter at the back of the engine. are these yammy or honda's. the F225 filter is at the lower stbd side at the engine front just beside the oil filter. I have cursed the "anganeer" that came up with both oil and fuel filter locations. I hope my voodoo doll has him/her wriggling.
good luck but we need more info

Yes, they are Yammys and you are right they are in front on the starboard side. I went to change them and the bowls were empty. I called my dealer and they said Yamaha said to not put the filter element in if there were an hesitation at idiol speed.

Re: Yamaha 225 Four Strokes

find another dealer
that one is full o stuff like a xmas turkey.
there is a tech bulliten out that addresses stalling after prolonged trolling and idling. it is a case by case repair not a recall. you guys in the sunny south will see more than us.if you take the elements out just remember the low pressure pump is almost 200 and the high pressure almost 600 and the removal of the filter will void any warrenty. trash in the VST is not a warrentable problem. any dealer that will tell you to remove filters and such I would be wary of. yammy put them there for a reason.
if you have a hull problem then fix that but the engines are well tested and have no filter problems. like I say there is a bulliten that covers stalling with the F200,F225. its long and involved and some techs are having some problems installing it so they do jiggy things.
good luck and keep posting

Re: Yamaha 225 Four Strokes

Thanks Rodbolt....What the dealer told me is that those filters are there in the event someone does not have an additional in line filter. I have Racors. They said I could remove them with no problems. I have not been impressed with this dealer from the beginning and have found another that seems to know what they are doing. Thanks for all you help. John
