I layed up my engine last fall by running the fuel (100:1 with stabilizer added) out. Essentially that was it.

I recently tried to start it with 85% fresh fuel, there was a half gallon or so in the tank.

The problem--I can start the engine, but it quickly dies. I start it with the choke out. Now, if I push the choke in and pull it out as the engine begins to die, it will continue to run. I have to repeat this process over and over to get it to run.

If I am able to put it into gear and open the throttle, it runs fine.

Any ideas. I have yet to take any thing apart, as who knows, it may be something super simple.

Thanks for your thoughts.

------------------
Richard
S/V Nepenthes

I think you have a clogged low speed jet in your carb, Richard, in spite of "running her dry" last Fall. By the way, don't run her all the way dry. . . .remember your lubrication is in the fuel. Your marine supply house should be able to sell you any one of several preparations specifically for preparing your engine for storage and drying the carb bowl without drying your cylinder walls.

Good luck.
JB
