Everyone has seen prices go up for wood. I was looking around at some places like HD which was selling 2x12x8 red board for $250, that's $31 a board foot. Is it really that high? Don't see how anyone would pay that for one board

Prices crashed recently, but a month or so ago, I needed 3/8" CDX plywood and wound up getting 3/8" BCX for $65 per sheet. I think it would normally be in the $35 range

Prices here have started to go down but they were really high. Plywood is still high. I bought a 4x4 pressure treated post yesterday 8 ft and paid $21 CAD which I didn't think was so bad.

Was thinking of selling my red oak for 3.50 ft but if folks are paying even 10 ft then I need to rethink

Our local lumber yard is charging $15 for an 8’ 2x4. Normally, those are about $3. Crazy prices.

My best friend was going to get charged $15 each for 8' 2x4's to build her shed, But she is lucky to know several people with saw mills and got rough cut 2x4's for normal prices. Still siding, decking and roofing, not being able to be milled, it cost well over what it should have.

I wouldn't even build a doghouse right now... Yet, new homes are going up left and right.... Deeper pockets than mine...

Ya know, about a month ago I burned up 2 wood decks in a bond fire, and half of one of them was just a year old. The ground hog thing :(

Just didn't want to try and save it. Did spend 2 afternoons with my rare earth magnet and filled up a 5 gal bucket with nails and screws

This upward price trend might go down a little, but don't count on it. Most prices never go back down.

A cheap 2x4 used to be $3.15, now they are over $7, and that's the cheapo stuff, a step above balsa wood.

If "you know who" gets his way with increasing business taxes, we will be the ones paying more. Those big companies will just pass it down to the consumer. That's just common sense. It's basically taxing us all in a roundabout way.
In the end...the rich get richer....and we foot the bill.

I just now checked online and a 2x4x8 is $3.48 at Home Depot. 🤷‍♂️

I watch business shows every weekday and lumber prices overall have been coming down. (y)

Yeah, i saw an article this week here in Canada that said that lumber prices are now nearly back to pre covid prices. Lumber retailers were complaining that they had bought lumber at high prices and now had to sell at low prices and take a lose.

Its coming down, might be another year for most things to get back like they were, but I believe it will get there

For me, in my neck of the woods, lumber costs remained relatively consistent....maybe a$1 more per 2x4. I know...I was building a Lionel layout in my basement with the stimulus checks :)

Other items though are silly $$$ and stock is still down on a number of items it seems. Some retail chains are putting limits on paper products again due to stocking issues.
