wont start

I have a 67 dorsett with a 83 mercury 70hp every once in a while the engine starts then when I turn it off I get nothing no click or nothing it wont do nothing is it a bad ing switch!!I bypassed the switch to the solinoid and it starts fine

Check the neutral switch operation in the shifter and then check the ignition switch.

Go to Engine FAQs, byeager. Do the "Outboard wont start" troubleshooting.

I changed the ignition switch and same thing no click ,but if I cross the starter wires to start it it I can then use the ignition switch.Whats up with that guys

I'm have the same problem, my engine turn over either.
