My friend keeps on trying to crack her block and sell me a great boat (2014? Chaparral 21 footish) for cheap, and I keep trying to prevent it I guess. It really would be the perfect upgrade for me (esp if i dropped a 383 in there, but I digress). So it's still on the lift and we've got a stretch of 20' days coming up. Not familiar with the VP at all, so my steps were:
1. Engine/manifold drain plugs, 4 in all (this boat is SO ROOMY)
2. Impeller? Looks like coming off the crank. Removed upper and lower hoses, probably only needed lower. Looks like there's a PS cooler in line with the lower hose.
3. Lower hose at the circulating pump.

She also had the drain plug in, so there's now water in the bilge, but I'm not getting in the water to take it out.
Anything I'm missing?

There is a P/S cooler at the rear of the engine, in line with the water intake hose, same as the Cobra, what I do is disconnect that raw water intake hose, hold it down to drain it, then hold it up and fill with -100 AF till the AF runs out the water intakes on the drive (put the drive level first), that pushes out any residual water in the cooler, and hoses that bring the water thru the transom mount...There may also be a screw drain on the port side of the pivot housing (the part that the drive bolts onto) and the Volvo has a slot in the joint between the drive and the pivot on the starboard side, that needs to be open, water sometimes gets trapped in there...clean it out if it's clogged with crud...

Pretty sure the PS cooler is self draining, however need to check

2014 and later boats used the LT based marine motors vs the SBC. The 2014 4.3 should also be the 250 or 280 HP LT V6

I believe @harringtondav has one
