I fish in the winter on Norris Lake for stripers. My boat has a convertible top with side and rear curtains. I troll, cooped up with a small heater inside. I don't like fishing that way--I'd rather cast--but it's too cold. I'll be moving to New Bern and will get a new boat. I will have a convertible top, but don't know about the sides and rear curtains. My question is this: Is there any winter fishing in the area that calls for trolling? If so, I may get the curtains. I'm looking to fish year round!

Not exactly familliar with the area but if it has stripers the answer is yes. Of course stripers in lakes everywhere are the same way and either fished trolling ot stationary with live bait. As well a lot of fishing involves trolling and I frequently do it salt water for sea trout and spottail in late fall. I like having a wind break and heat for that. As well if you run and gun in winter the sides and such come in handy then too. Personally I would rather have it then not.
