I have done some work on my motor and i would like to put it in gear and run it in gear. The closest lake is over an hour away and I dont want to drive all that way to test. can I run the motor in gear with the ear muffs, or will this not be enough water or hurt something that doesn't get water

Not Sure about the Muffs....I have a 65 horse and use a 55 gallon drum filled with water to do all my work...Maybe this will work for you....

I live in town in an apartment have to work in parking lot so I'm kind of stuck with muffs or lake.

It really will not accomplish much to run it in gear. Make sure if you do that the prop is on. Do not run it without a prop or test wheel. If you are thinking of adjusting the idle in gear well....it will not work right.<br /><br />Short answer - yes you can run it in gear with muffs but it is very dangerous.<br /><br />Bob

It's ok to run in gear with the muffs as long as you don't run above idle - 1500. Also make sure that the hose is clear of the prop (VERY IMPORTANT). <br /><br />Craig

did not want to go into the why but.. last week put boat in water starts easy idles fine when I put in gear nothing happened found cables had rotted out so I changed cables and just wanted to put in gear with a little gas to see if this is the problem or I am looking at more.<br /> Have to say thanks to all here am very new to this boating and have probley asked some dumb ones, never been flamed for my ignorence, just great advice.If only I had known two months ago what I know now.......

hey mifin,I have been bass boating for more than ten years and I wish I had Known two months ago what I know now! I am also new on this board but it is great compaired to some of the other boards where you get bashed if you don't run the most popular model.
