Will I have enough power?

I have an old 27'Omega I am going to re-power. It used to have a pair of 4 cyl I/O's and I'm thinking of hanging a bracket and a 250 on it. I've talked to one marina and they said it would probably perform better than it did originally because of the reduction in weight, but a friend of mine says I won't have enough power. Can anyone out there shed some light on this situation? Thanks in advance.

Pat

Thats a big old heavy boat, were you happy with the power you had before? You will be loosing some weight, and the outboard may be a bit more efficient. It wont be any speed demon, but I think you may be a bit better with the outboard. Dual 150s would be better and then you would have two engines again in case of a problem.
------------------
Omega
Hang a couple of 200 hP outboards on this hull. Many 200 weigh in the same but have tons more juice.
