Who performs surveys?

I've had my 1990 22' wellcraft eclipse for 5 years now, and it's been a great reliable boat. I maintain it well, but I store it outside (covered) and I run it hard in salt water every weekend.

I replaced a portion of the deck when I bought it. 5 years later, I think it might be getting soft motor mounts. I'd like to keep the boat and continue to upgrade it, but not if it needs a whole summer's worth of surgery.

Who can I hire to perform a deep survey and see if it's still structurally sound? How long does it take? Cost?

google it [marine suveyor] for your state and area. Generally its 18-25 per foot. In your case it would take a couple hours.

I would do some looking by yourself fist and see if you find any major issues before paying out. As for getting someone to do it, google marine suveyor or get someone who knows boats really well to come take a look for you. I have no idea on cost as I have never had one done.

You don't need a full survey. Tell the person doing the survey what your looking for and they may cut you a break. No need for a full $500 survey unless you're buying a boat.
