I have a pair of 2001 VP 8.1GSiI-A,V drives, approx. 1300 hours. Have a whistling noise from port engine that gets worse in gear from a little above idle up to about 3000/3500 RPM under load, then starts to diminish above that. Certainly sounds like a intake leak at or downstream of the throttle body. Was advised that there was a service bulletin regarding this noise and a throttle body gasket update/replacement was required to resolve this problem. Anyone have the service bulletin regarding this and can you confirm gasket upgrade is solution? Engine s/n = 4012043622.
What is p/n, availability of new gasket if in fact this is the solution? Stbd engine does not have this problem . Both engine start and run fine and come up to 4800/5000 WOT.
Thanks
