where does the blue seal side go

Hello, i have recently purchased a head gasket for my 60 hp johnson, one side of the gasket is flat the other side has a raised blue seal/seal coating. The gasket will fit either way, but what side does the seal side face, the head or the cylinder? thanks

the blue seal side goes toward the crank.

also be sure to retorque the head after you run the motor for a couple of gallons of gas.

very important.
