What year is my johnson sea horse??

6hp Johnson Sea Horse<br /><br />I bought it off the third owner, who had NO idea what year/SN the outboard is. The plate (that I assume had all the information on it) is clearly missing. Here is all the info I have:<br /><br />Under the motor is the number 318486 and Scratched in the top cover are the numbers 24-8-22<br /><br />I doubt anyone can help me with so little info, but is there anywhere else I can look?<br /><br />Thanks, Stone

You are right it would be hard to "age" the engine without the model number. I would suggest as it is a small engine, to drive it down to your nearest Johnson service center and let them have a look. They could probely ID it at sight.
