What year is my boat???

Hi, everyone. My wife and I bought an old<br />14ft Shell Lake runabout at an auction. I<br />thought it was mid-60's or so. We were at a<br />near by lake the other day, and someone told<br />me mid-50's. The hull no. is 1467D1007.<br />Any and all help is greatly appreciated.<br /><br />River Rat 01

I'm kinda surprised you have a HIN on your boat, before 1972, they most of the time didn't put them on. I believe that your boat's a 1967, but the HIN isn't set up like it's required to be today. Usually its set up like ABC12345M72E - first three letters are the manufacturer, next five numbers are the serial numbers, next letter for year format, the next two numbers for the year, the last letter for month A=August, B=Sept,etc - Yours isn't set up that way. I wish I HAD a HIN on mine, I know it's about a 1971, but can't be sure. Hope this helps.

Thanx for the help. Idon't think the previous<br />owner/s knew about it either. When I registered it the DNR asked me to guess what<br />year it was. The thing that got me is, it had<br />a 1965 Merc on it with a white controlbox.<br />Anyhow thanx for the help and happy boating.<br /><br /> RR01
