What was the smallest Starcraft runabout ever made?

I was thinking about buying my my son a Starcraft of his own once he completes boater education. Did Starcraft ever make a small, say under 14' runabout? I wanted to put together something with a closed bow, steering wheel and 10hp outboard.

Allow me to offer my novice opinion. I wouldn't buy anything under 14' . I am only 17, so my dad will only let me have a boat he is sure I can't roll. Anything smaller, and narrower and it will tip over easily. My boat is a 14' Starcraft Speedqueen. You could sit two guys on the rail and its not even close to rolling. We had a 12' sea maid that was just too tippy. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you, that is why I am also going to look for the widest beam possible. But my son is 10 years old and is legally limited to 10hp in the states we boat in (Ohio/Indiana). Also, registering a boat in the state of Ohio is much easier when it is under 14' (no title necessary) and will be easier for him to control. But I suppose if it had the title, a 14' would be ok, but it is a rarity around here for boats that size and age to have a title. And getting a title made is a real pain. I have done it before and there is a good chance that it will not be possible.
That's why I think I will be better off finding a 13' 11" and under boat.
I know where a Larson is that fits these specs, but of course, he wants a Starcraft!
I looked up a Starcraft Speed Queen, neat looking boat, about what I am looking for. Are they truly 14', or a little under?

When I was looking up brochures for the Speed queen I found the 12' Starcraft Speedster runabout. It has a 60" beam versus the 63" beam of the speed queen and the same 52" transom.

I may have just answered my own question, unless somebody comes up a better suggestion? Or an equivelent model that would be easier to find?

Have you looked at all the brochures in this thread?

wfralpacas is working on a 14' Starcraft Ski Champ that would probably be a good one if you're leaning towards aluminum. I would agree that for a youngster 13' or more would provide more stability, but if he's going to be launching and retrieving himself, a 12' tinny would be easily managed.

I grew up tooling around in my little 12' Aerocraft on Lake Huron and never tipped it or swamped it, just make sure it's never overloaded...glad to hear he's in boater safety, great idea:)
