I,m doing end of year maintenance on my boat i purchased this season and would lke to know the proper type of motor oil to use. its a 1991 mercruiser 350 mag/ alpha Gen 2. would it be adventageous to use straight weight motor oil since my boat is strictly pleasure craft and not used in cold months or just a good grade 10/30. also what type of fluid is used in power tilt/trim on alpha gen2 drive. thanks

straight 40w or merc's 25w40 are the only 2 oils recomended by merc for your usage. you can use 10w30 or 10w40 for the trim system.

Check your owner's manual...I suspect it recommends using straight 30 wt.

Walt
