What is the longest your boat has been "out" on the water (excluding mooring)?

I'm curious about your longest trip on your boat (# of hours or days, not miles). How long were you afloat, away from either the trailer, or a dock? What was your longest, continuous time away?

I guess the rules are: Beached at an island, or at anchor counts toward the time, docked at marina doesn't. Rafted to another boat, as long is neither are connected to a dock or some sort of infrastructure is OK too. Let's say it's still a continuous trip if all you had were quick runs to a dock for gas, ice, etc.

If you can, include where you were and what type of boat (and whether it's trailered or moored). No real reason here, I'm just curious about other boaters.

Me? My inboard ski boat was afloat for a full week, tied to a houseboat at anchor in Lake Ouachita, Arkansas. My Sea Ray (unfortunately) only has a maximum of 24 hours off the trailer.

3 days and 4 hours. My best time from Stuart FL to Hoboken State Park, NJ. I had a good window and went for it. Jacksonville FL, Bald Head Island NC, and Atlantic City for fuel.......or something like that. 64 Viking Sportfish with enclosed flybridge.

Two days, one night, spent at anchor near Kring Point State Park in the Thousand Islands.

The boat in question is my 19.5' Stingray cuddy and it is kept on the trailer.

Sesto, ... That was a grind, but you had a good boat for it!
While growing up our family summer vacations were three weeks on the boat. We used to alternate years between NJ (home) and Lake Champlain to the Canadian boarder one year and the the next summer would be NJ out to Nantucket. Now I'm 'trailer bound', so maybe a half day.

Usually a week. Last time was Lake powell in April 2012. We launched at Wahweep got up past Halls Crossing then then back.
Planning on the Sacramento River Delta this May. We'll Launch at Stockton and Cruise for a week. We might stay a night or two in a slip in a marina, otherwise it's tied to a tree.
In 2011 it was almost two weeks on Puget Sound. We Launced at Olympia. Some nights in a slip some at anchor.
The Boat's a 23 ft Dorsett Cabin Cruiser. It's our floating RV. Enclosed standup Head, Galley, Sleeps 2 adults. When the Kids were small slept 4. Bought it in 1970.
We live in a beautiful country and the best way to see much of it is from a Boat.

I'd say about 8 hours on my bowrider. Longest trip was from minneapolis, mn to prescott, wi. I'm hoping to do some overnighters on the new (read old) cruiser I picked up last fall if I get some projects done on it in time. I hope to camp out on the mississippi/st.croix river. I've got some more learning to do. This is a whole 'nother ball game.

if we are talking time on the water, in 91 i was out with my dad inhis 70s 21' thunderbird cuddy, left from mathews at wareneck, got a rouge storm, hung up on a sand bar mobjack bay, trying to get home on the york river, huge waves splashing over the cathedral hull, we got off the sand bar by throttleing up when the waves would lift us, we hopped back out to the channel, visibility was terrible dad forgot his glasses i didnt know how to read charts, so he pointed and i read and looked for lighthouses, we made it home 24 hours, allmost ran out of beer. if talking my boat, 10 hours out on the river

About 17 years ago I took my 23' Formula from Cape Cod, MA up to Booth Bay, Maine with stops in Boston, MA, Kennebunkport, NH to re-fuel. I stayed on a mooring and then came back that weekend so total time on the water approximately 3 days and 2 nights. Going up was a pleasure. Coming home I had pea soup fog, a malfunctioning Loran and 6 footers the whole way home with nothing but a compass, depth finder, paper charts, dead reckoning and a lot of luck on my side to get me home. Ahhhhh.... the days of being young and fearless.:faint2::D

In terms of 'running time', that'd be a 7-8 hour trip (each way) that we've taken twice. Follow Great South Bay east from Babylon, through the Hamptons and Moriches Bay (always an adventure there). Head north through the Shinnecock canal and lock; then east through the Peconic Bay to the town of Greenport on the north fork of the island. We spent a week there docked at a B&B/Marina (Townsend Inn). We stayed aboard the boat.

More commonly we stay on the hook for 1-2 nights several times during the summer, but that's fairly close to the home slip- about a 45 minute ride.

When I was a kid we spent 6 weeks on a 28' sailboat just about every summer usually going through the San Juans and up to northern Vancouver Is.

Do you travel the Mississippi to do the camping you mentioned? I've always wanted to take a long river trip and sightsee. In the 70's, my best friend and I bought an old boat to fix up. Our intention was to travel the AR river from north of Little Rock all the way to the Miss, and on to NOLA (sort Huck Finn -ish). Of course we never made it. Two bumpkins that didn't know much about boats never got the thing repaired enough. Now that I'm old, I'm kinda reconsidering a similar trip in my 23ft Cuddy. Just curious where you'd traveled on the Miss.

You can camp on the Mississippi up here, though the nearby St.Croix is cleaner and absent commercial traffic. There are some sandbars and islands to beach on or anchor off of.

I've been between Minneapolis, MN and Prescott, WI on the Mississippi (about 30 miles). The downstream end of St.Croix River is in Prescott. I've also been up the St.Croix about 15 miles to Hudson, WI.

I haven't spent a night out yet on the cruiser. The only time I had it out on the water was the test drive last fall when I purchased it. It just snowed here yesterday. Winter will just not let go, so won't be boating anytime soon. I guess if I was real motivated I could have tent camped on a sandbar last summer with my bowrider.
