Hello I bought a Bravo III drive (used) the seller said that the gear ratio was 2:20 to 1. The drive has no serial # engraved in it ( contacted merc was told that after 2000 they stopped stamping the actual drive and put the serial # on the sticker which is long gone). Somebody did scrape the letter K on the input shaft which would indentify the unit as having 2:20 to 1 gears in it. Before I put this on my boat I want to make sure what it has for gears. I know that I could pull it apart and count the teeth but I really dont want to. I put a piece of tape on the housing and a piece on the output shaft so that they were in line with eachother. I did the same on the input shaft. I turned the input shaft 1 complete revolution and counted revolutions on the output shaft. With one turn of the input shaft the output shaft turned just shy of two revolutions. I am correct to think that the gear ratio on this unit is actually 1:98 to 1 ?????????
