I got a 14'X 70" flat bottom with 40hp Tohatsu long shaft with a 11.2 x 8.7 prop for heavy loads,(only one guy had)and I'm pushing 1000lbs loaded including motor. The man I bought motor from built aluminum bracket to raise transom height 3 1/2".The first time i ran motor water sprayed all over top of hood and only 22 mphs. Then I read all the post saying motor cavitation plate should be even with or 1" up or down from bottom of boat. I measured and found plate 2 3/4"s low, so I raised transom with 2" x 6" to get 1/2" from bottom then changed prop to 10.2 x 13.9. Speed picked up to 30 mphs but I still get spray.Eagle 3D transducer is mounted as manual says. It's 22" from motor and even with bottom of boat.I know it causing part of spray but most is from motor. What else can I do? Fins,Splash sheild between transducer and motor or what do you experts suggest.
