hi, bought this 1990 pursuit 2650 two years ago. has a 454 330hp bravo gen vi engine in it.I never checked oil as dip stick was broke off. Haven't put it in water since I've had it. Just winterized. Ran it on muffs yesterday for maybe
be thirty minutes and checked temps at risers and block etc.. with highest temp around 160.Had got a dip stick and inserted it to find oil almost white. Engine was running great. Recently replaced the seawater pump/ fuel pump that's belt driven along with separator filter. fuel pump went out and took impeller out too. Dropped lower unit thinking it had an impeller down there, but it didn't. What I did find was what was left of the water flaps. Couldn't find a plug on oil pan to drain, so I bought a vacuum pump and stuck it in dip stick tube. I'm sure I didn't get all the bad oil out, but got most. Put new oil in and ran it for thirty minutes today. checked oil, and it still shows water. just not nearly as bad. Want to change it at least one more time and see if it clears up any more, or gets worse. Hoping the missing flappers had something to do with the water. grasping at straws...lol Pulling the plugs and looking for washed plugs might tell me if head gasket is blown before compression testing it wouldn't it? How about oil cooler? heat risers too. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hope you got a marine dip stick tube. This will allow most of the oil to come out the tube.

Looking at plugs may help, but sitting that long may not. Doing a compression test is always good for a baseline. The oil cooler if cracked can put water in, but may also see it come out the exhaust.

Being a 1990 don't see the motor being a Gen 6 unless it was replaced.
What's your serial number?

your right, its a gen4 I think. anyway I can check the oil cooler for leaks? will do a compression test first. oil cooler is a bear to get to. Also< questions about some sensors. theirs two what looks like oil sensors (small round can type) and one has a screw stud while the other has a spade type connection. Both are not wired. Also theirs another small sensor there near the oil pan at the back of engine with two spade connectors. accounts for no oil pressure I bet. thanks for your advise. nice to have someone who knows about this stuff and is nice enough to help.

One down low on the port side near the pan should be the oil pressure gauge sender, larger then the rest.

One below the distributer on back of the motor with spade terminals should be the oil pressure alarm switch, or it may be modified if it has an electric fuel pump.

If there are ones on the thermostat housing this would be temp gauge sender and temp alarm switch

Just guessing right now, pics would be better, but you will need to post a few more times in order to upload. Could also use a 3rd party pic hosting site
