after removing engine dogbox cover for refoaming and rewooding- i left it off for about 3 weeks with boat cover installed- We had alot of rain here. Went to idle engine with waterhose today and thought engine had siezed because it turned over once and then really bogged down battery, after removing sprkplugs to unload compression for battery- big streams of water were shooting out of sparkplug holes- more in #4 cylinder (one all the way aft) but definitely some in all cylinders. Oil is pristine with no evidence of oil intrusion. Last time boat was in water was at Key West in Jan. Ran fine and i always fresh water rinse. Engine is 99 3.0 -any thoughts?

In my opinion you should disable the spark,
and squirt a very small amount of motor oil in the spark plug holes. This lubes the cylinders which will let you spin the engine over and replaces some lost lubrication. Do this with all spark plugs removed. Spin all the water out, replace the spark plugs.( use new ones ) re connect the spark system, and if all works out the engine will fire.

You should probably also change the oil because when you cranked it you forced the water past the rings and into the crankcase.Generally when I run an engine after water is in it I run Two stroke gas for extra lubrication.

hello
most likely got water in it due to rain coming in the carb. may have also entered the carb fuel bowl from the vent area.
check it all out then try another restart. 2 stroke mix will be fine just get as much water as you can out.
good luck and keep posting
