Hi, I am new to the site and and have a question. I just bought a Procraft boat with a 1989 110hp Evinrude about two weeks ago. I am in the process of changing the lower unit oil this evening and when I pulled the plug, clear water came out, then the oil. My plan is to add new oil and change the plug o rings, run it a while on the lake and then check it again for water. The oil was not really cloudy, yellowish in color and had no really bad odor like it had been run hot . The magnets were clean. Any comments would be appreciated.

Welcome to iboats....

The thing about lower unit lubrication is... if the lub has water , it's more than likely coming for the screws , the Vent and Drain. Do as you have said and test on the lake (after the change, both gaskets) and see if you have oil. If there is water present, look for the steps to test the lower unit.

Thanks for the reply. That was the answer I was hoping for! I sure hope thats all it is. The little O-rings were pretty flattened out.

If it has water in it again, have it pressure and vacummed checked. Easy way to find where the leak is.

I would put them on there if you don't have them. I found mine at a hardware store in the faucet o-ring section.
