water coming out the the breather tube-Yamaha I/O

After 3 minutes of idling with garden hose attachment on, water came out of the valve cover thru the pcv tube. Any ideas?<br /><br />This is a used boat for sale '94 Dynasty Elanti 181 4.3l Yamaha outdrive

How fer up north do you live? Exhaust system won't put water in the engine while running but a freeze crack will. Check the dipstick and see how much oil you made. When you say water came out the valve cover breather, how much ya talking about?
