wash carbs off with water????

this cleaner i bought from a auto parts store says it has some cleaner in it and its so harmfull that after i let the carbs soak wash them off with water and then dry. im not the brightest bulb in the batch but i do know water and carbs. dont mix. does this mean rirnse with water and then blow dry with a air hose.

What kind of cleaner is it, a degreaser? If so that is not what you need to use. You can buy carb cleaner in a bucket type container where you drop the carbs in a basket and let them soak.

thats what it is froa napa store the only store withing 32 miles of my house. it says let them soak and then wash off with water.?????

You have run into the new EPA consumer regulations...water based bio degradeable crap unless your "pro"....water is ok, jus blow them out with compressed air....stuff does not work real good on carbs though. Need some of that nasty chlorinated solvent.....non-alcoholic "Gum Out" in the spray can. Laquer thinner does wonders too if ya let it soak for 1/2 hour first. Then scrub with a stiff nylon parts brush and bronze wire brush, NOT stainless steel!

make sure that there are no plastic parts on the carb or it will eat them up. You are probably better off cleaning them with some premix and a toothbrush. You can clean your jet with a bread wrapper twist tie that has the coating removed. Best advice is to get a carb kit and put new in. Make sure that the high speed jet is perfectly clean. Replace your needle valve and seat. Set new float so it is level with your carb when you turn it upside down.
