I took the boat out on the Delaware River in the vicinity of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge and found the waters to be practically un-navigable. There was a 1'-3' tidal surge compliments of hurricane Charley and it pick up just about every piece of debris that was on the shoreline. The most hazardous by far was the huge logs, tree branches and other assorted timber. I would not even consider boating after dark unless you have a death wish.

Ratfish,

I put the boat back in Sunday and agree the water was risky at best. I only had to go from the ramp to the Yacht club, we planned on going down to one of the coves, but to much debri. I was at the club at lunch time today, and the water looked much cleaner.

Hi bobby515,

There sure was a ton of stuff floating in the river the later part of the summer and fall. All of the rain from remnants of hurricanes, to storm fronts made tides so high, that just about every piece of junk ended up in the river.

Anyway, not a bad season on the water. The boat ran well and the family had a great time on the water. It will be a long wait till next spring.

Hey Ratfish, I'm a new boater to the awful Deleware River myself. I left the Wissonoming Yacht Club one night(sometimes it tough to leave there) I ran into an actual 35' tree floating in front of me. That was it for that prop.
