Warning alarm issues

I realized my warning alarm buzzer has not been going off recently when the key is turned to the on position.

I found that alarm has no ground when then key is on, power but no ground. I disconnected the two wires that go to the drive lubr resivoir sensor and jumped them together, alarm sounded.

The only reading with the engine off and key on should be the oil pressure? Can I ground the wire from the pressure switch and see if it sounds with engine off and key on, if so that would indicate bad pressure switch ?

Engine is a 4.3 carb.

No, it means you simulated no oil in the res by shorting the wires to ground, that system is also connected to the no engine oil alarm and high engine temp alarm

Always good to tell us what your working on, makes it much easier. From another thread your serial number is 0M369570 and is a 1998 4bbl

As BT mentioned the alarm will sound if one of the three items creates a ground. If yo turn your key ON and do not start, it should take 20 seconds or so before the alarm will sound do to a capacitor in line. If it does not sound off after that time, I would check your oil pressure switch, it's probably either bad of there is a broken connection

I located the oil pressure switch (on intake manifold directly next to distributor). Pulled the wire off and grounded it, alarm sounded with key on engine off. Put wire back on the sensor and nothing. Since engine has 0 psi off I believe the sensor is bad.

I'm going to order a new one unless anyone else says otherwise.

It's either a bad switch or the threads/base of the switch is coated to heavily with the red Loctite substance that sometimes comes on them from (OEM) new that the switch is not touching the block getting a good enough ground connection. You might be able to try touching the switch with a ground wire to see if the horn turns on....Or with the key on, try moving/turning the switch a little to see if it will come on.

If not the new switch part number is 805605A1 (Audio Warning System) item number 8, http://www.iboats.com/Electrical-Co...218110--session_id.647781314--view_id.1682374

Using the serial number posted above by AD, Here's your full parts guide through iboats for you,

Lets us know what you find out, good luck.

New oil pressure switch arrived. New one tested at 11.5 ohm and old one showed nothing.

Alarm is fixed and works as it should.
