I am having trouble finding anything similar in the forums already posted, but here is my problem. I have a 1999 Volvo Penta 5.0 Gi fuel injected engine with maybe 10 hours on it since it was rebuilt. I didn't have any problems the first few times taking it out this year, but now I am having trouble re-starting after shutting it off in the lake. When launching it starts right up, no problem. After pulling the tube around for awhile, we'll pull into a cove to swim. After sitting for about an hour or so, when I go to start it up, I have to turn it over for 20 sec, stop try again and again for about 5 20 sec cranks before the engine starts and it smokes a lot.
Any ideas on what is causing this?
When it fires up it runs great and doesn't stall, ever. I'm a new boat owner and am just puzzled on what's causing it.
Thanks for any advice you can provide.
