Well I've had a leak in my boat for the last two years and I finally had the bellows replaced as well as other needed maintenance. Got the boat back - sill leaks. I've ignored it cause I couldn't find the leak anywhere on the engine. I even got in the motor compartment and road for about 15 minutes (wow what a loud and rough ride). I couldn't spot a leak at all yet the bilge was filling pretty fast. I would have to run the bilge pump a couple of times per hour. So today I finally found my leak. When I put the boat up on the lift and was about to remove the drain plug I noticed water dripping at a good rate from around the drain plug. Removed the three screws holding the plugin housing and inspected. I need to re-seal the drain plug housing. What a relief to find this leak after a couple of years. Now my question. What do I use to seal this housing? It almost looked like it had plumbers putty on it originally and I guess after 15 years it has dried out a bit. What is the correct product to use in this application?
