Hey guys, water in the oil. I just replaced the manifold and all associated gaskets because of a cracked manifold. I was getting water in the oil. So I changed the oil and took it out and I still am getting water in the oil. At high speed I got a nasty knock so I limped home.
Question is, how can I verify that I have an internal block leak and not an exhaust back up issue or still an issue with the exhaust manifold? There is no external block leaks.

has the engine ever been frozen/not winterized with raw water still in it?
what caused the exhaust manifold to crack?

I just did pressure check on cylinders. Not good:
150/90/130/150.
I had the head off and it looked good as well as well as the head gasket. I didn’t have it magma fluxed. But nothing obvious.
Of course it has water in the oil right now so that might effect the operation of lifters and cause the low pressure.

It’s brand new. I put it on the week.
Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...... You need to isolate the Block, 'n pressure test the Block, not the new manifold,.....

Water in the oil, is not the cause of the low compression,....
It's either leaking valves, or piston rings,....
Pressurize the cylinder at Tdc, 'n see there it's leaking,....

Right, I was curious if a low cylinder pressure could cause water to get into the system especially if it’s a result of the valves not being adjusted correctly.
I’m not sure how you’re saying I should pressure check it.
Pressurize through the spark plug hole?
Block off the water entry near the thermostat?
I’m not sure exactly every place I need to block off and it doesn’t seem like I want to pressurize the top of the cylinder.
Am I pressurizing the water system or the block?

Ayuh,..... To find where the water is entering the oil, you isolate the block's cooling passages, 'n pressurize to 'bout 15 psi,.....

To see where the cylinder is loosing compression, you turn the motor so that cylinder is at Tdc, then pressurize that cylinder to see whether it's leaking through the intake valve, or the exhaust valve, or through the piston rings,....
I use my compression tester, as when I take the gauge off it, my air line fits onto the end that screws into the spark plug hole,....
