I just recently puchased a '72 Glasstron 19' with
the above engine. I runs fine at high prm, however, at idle it tend to stall (i think engine
is flooded by the smell) and it is hard to start
again. It has been sitting for several years.
Should I be using a higher octane gas than
regular? Any suggestions as to what my problem
may be? saxe@access4less.net

[*] web page

It sounds like your carb is gummed up, it may be time for a carb rebuild. You could try cleaning it out with some carb cleaner in the gas. If you can turn up the idle a bit to keep it running there are products you can spray down the throat of the carb to flush it out also. If it was recently rebuilt the idle mixture screws could be out of adjustment.
