im new to this helpful site, and now i have a couple of things that some one might be able to help me with. im about ready to buy another boat but there seems to be some type of knocking coming from the outdrive when going into a turn, could it be a bad u-joint ? now the other problem is the tilt,it will not go all the way's up and then the tilt motor slows down,it will go up by hand. do you think it's a striped worm gear ? is the repair on both things hard to do ?or should it go to a shop? what might the cost be to have it repaired ? thanks

That knocking may well be bad u;joints and if that is the case you will need to find a repair facility familiar with these drives.Since this unit has likely been operated in salt water and is no spring chicken, repairs could set you back some, especially if the torch comes out. The tilt unit could be as simple as a battery going south or as extreme as a new tilt unit.Usually somewhere in between.Poor ground, dirty connections, corroded pivot points, you get the idea.
