Saturday I will be down in Williamsburg and I am looking for a good spot to cast from shore! Can anyone one help me out? Maybe a good place to cast from james river any info on where to go and what bait to use and setup will be very helpful, and a nearby bait store. I am an avid fisherman of lake saint clair and am killing time before the lake freezes over for some ice fishing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Visiting from Michigan

The majority of the fish that populate that area are migratory. Most have left the waters by now. The Stripers are here in force but that's pretty much a boat fishery at the moment. Should be some big blue catfish around but they will be in deeper water which would not be accessible from shore.

Your best bet from land would be down at Lynnhaven Inlet or surf fishing out front in Va. beach. Surf fishing out front is going to take some pretty stout tackle. A stout, 10?-13? rod is almost a requirement. Fish running 25-#30 are pretty typical when a school of Stripers gets within casting of the beach. Your best bet is probably Lynnhaven Inlet. Its bit of a ride from Williamsburg as is the beach, but it give you the best opportunity to catch some decent fish from shore. Should still be a few trout in the inlet as well

Be sure to stop in at a local B&T to pick up your license. No more free passes in tidal water.

It is a best opportunity to catch it. It is best best to catch more and more decent fish from shore. As well as there are few of the trout in inlet to work great and great to work in different places with it.
