What would be considered the useful life of Yamaha 4 stroke Outboards that are well maintained? I currently own 3 year old F150s with only 150 hours. I am considering trading up to a larger rig with F225s with 310 hours. Both rigs are used in the Florida Keys.

In fresh water a Yammy F150 ought to last 4,000-5,000 hours. In salt it would be another story.

My friend who guides on Lake Of The Woods has one with over 1500 hours with zero problems.

Re: Useful life of Yamaha 4 Stroke

I know a pro Fisherman here in Australia that has a pair of 115 4 stroke Yamahas and he has well over 3,000 hours of hard saltwater work on them, the motors still run great, BUT, lots of other bits and pieces have been replaced or are worn out, like the controls have been replaced, the trim leaks down slowly and has been repaired before, the swivel bracket is worn a lot, so I guess the actual motor will almost go forever, but other stuff just "wears away" around it.
