Ultrasonic cleaners?

Hey guys, having a problem with a carb or two.
Considering buying an ultrasonic cleaner, but I know absolutely nothing about them. Wondering if I should get one with a heater and looking for any suggestions on do’s and don’ts regarding ultrasonic cleaners.

This would be used for cleaning two-stroke carbs.

Thanks I used a pinesol soak last time, but no ultrasonic cleaner

I use the heater and have been getting great results with a few drops of Dawn dish soap.
You can use to much and you will know when you do but the bench will be clean as well.

Be very cautious about small fragile parts. Like watches or PCB parts
The vibrations can damage and destroy some items. Been there.

I use Pine-sol in a crockpot.

I’m only going to use for carb cleaning

You can boil carbs in a light lemon juice mixture. Not too much lemon juice on carbs that are zinc coated but it’s an old trick that works well. I cook them on the stove in an old aluminum pot. It actually doesn’t stink up the house

Since today's carb cleaners suck compared to the cleaners of the 80's.

For all really cruded up carbs I do a soak in acetone (metal parts only. Followed by cleaning in berrymans (plastic part safe)

Acetone will dissolve most gummy fuel deposits quickly

Be careful with simple green..... It will eat the zinc and platings on some carbs. (Ask how I found out) .

Holley carbs are zinc castings

Mild acids will cause rusting on shafts if the plating is wore thru

Always chase every passage with fishing line and aerosol carb cleaner (or even WD40) to make sure they are clear

I use formula 88 from HD mixed 50/50...be surprised on what comes out of a clean carb
