Could some one please help me find a owners/user manual for my sailboat. I got a little registration card with it. Here is the little information that is on it.

YR BLT: 64
Length: 21 0
Make of Boat: Ventura
Hull I.D. No. : 330

Here is a little more information about it. Fiberglass, has a small outboard motor with it, that can be attached to the back. Has a small cabin, not big. The bigger sail on it, in big letters sewn on, says: V330.

I have been trying to find out more about it, and trying to find an owners/user manual for it. If someone could help me out that would be great!

They did not make boats in 1964.

The Guy at MecQgregor-Boats.com said that. I can not find a manual for my boat at all.

Land Apache, it is very doubtful if the boat ever had a users manual, a lot of boats were sold in that size range without any kind of instruction.. what is it that you have questions about? Most boats that size are easy to rig and sailing is sailing, no matter the size........by the way the early Mcgregor's were called venture not ventura, so you may have some spin off made locally in your area and long since out of business....Years ago, I had a friend who had a 21 foot venture with a swing keel, it was a nice sailing boat.......his was a 1971 model I believe... :) :)

I have never sailed before, and the books that I got, where for the small racing sailboats. What is a swing keel? I need to know how to hoist the sales, and use the smaller sail up front.

LA find a copy of anapollis book of seamanship, it is very good at explaining the basics of sailing and rigging.. The swing keel is basicly a cast iron blade that hangs from a pivot bolt and it can be cranked up and down with a winch and cable similar to the winch on a trailer, when the keel is up, it fits into a cavity in the hull of the boat, when it is down it hangs deep into the water and does what a keel does...get the book and things will be a lot clearer, or better yet, hang around the dock and hitch a ride with someone who knows how to sail......... :D :D

My Sailboat has a swing keel. I live on a lake and I leave it there, so it would not be easy to hitch a ride with someone that knows how to sail.

Annapolis Book of Seamanship is probably the best & I would buy it, but get every book out of your local public library & read & study them. The basic principles will start to make sense in no time.
Figure out the terminology. You need to know the difference between a halyard, a sheet & a shroud to understand what is going on.
Their are bound to be some videos on the subject. Check sailing magazines or the internet.
Many areas have sailing schools. A good place to learn the basics & more.
A swing keel is basically the same thing as a centerboard, only it's bigger & heavier. Its main purpose is to provide weight(ballast)to keep the boat upright(remember the boat will still heel or lean when sailing) & to be a foil in the water to provide lift so that you can sail into the wind. Generally the swing keel needs to be lowered to sail.
Your first assignment is to find out what that "smaller sail up front" is called.
:)
